You will most often be instructed about what to bring, whether you have eating or drinking restrictions, and other health-related concerns to share beforehand. In the hospital on surgery day, you can expect to be wearing a hospital gown and will most often have some waiting time in a preoperative holding area. Some surgical centers and hospitals allow you to have one or two friends or family members with you in your room.
